As part of UK Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week (May 1-7) we are interviewing Elaine Hanzak, who recounts her experiences with puerperal psychosis.  We are also offering a free download of Emma Bell's, 'The True You,' with helpful advice to people facing challenging situations.

Elaine Hanzak was a typical mum-to-be until she suffered from puerperal psychosis, the most severe form of postnatal depression. In theory Elaine 'had it all' – a strong marriage, lovely home, supportive family, good teaching career - so why did pregnancy result in her becoming a self-harming psychiatric patient?

Elaine talks about the ‘shifts’ she had in her two books about postnatal depression and the decision to consider further pregnancies.

Eyes without Sparkle is a powerful autobiography describing Elaine's journey through, and out of puerperal psychosis. Her autobiography is an inspiration for anyone suffering from or involved with a depressive illness.

Elaine’s second book Another Twinkle in the Eye offers insights for the thousands of affected women each year who are faced with considering additional  pregnancies.

Elaine’s story has taken her around the world. As the years have passed, her new life's events have been added to the picture, especially the impact on her of the death of her partner, Clive Gott.

Join us for a lively discussion of how Elaine has confronted and overcome these challenges in her life and helped thousands of women confronting similar challenges.
